Charcuterie boards are the newest trend in entertaining. Sometimes called a grazing board, it’s simply a collection of processed or cured meats, cheeses, dips, olives, anything pickled, fruits (fresh and dried) and table crackers to name a few. These items are typically arranged on a wooden board, sometimes with small bowls/plates added in for some of the accoutrements. If you’re artsy or creative, this is an opportunity to create abstract art with food. Higher quality ingredients will definitely make for a more enjoyable experience, especially paired with a nice glass of wine. Some of my favorite places to get items are The Fresh Market, Trader Joe’s, or The Cheese Shop in Colonial Williamsburg's Merchants Square.
Now for those of you that are not artsy, creative, or know what the difference between cured meat and sandwich meat, have no fear! As the trend for charcuterie boards has increased there are custom charcuterie board designers that can assist you with all of your entertainment or gifting needs, and some even deliver! If you’re in the Richmond, Virginia area, you definitely need to check out Board & Beautiful! The owner and dear friend Greg, creates beautifully packed boards for every occasion, which are truly a beautifully boarded experience!
